What do you like best about the Willow Project? One of the best things in my opinion about the Willow Project is being able to meet some of the homeless people that we help at the Willow Project. It’s such a great exchange that occurs between the clinic and the homeless, both the opportunity to help them by providing basic healthcare while at the same time also gaining new insight into the unique experiences that the homeless are willing to share during the process. What is your most memorable Willow Project experience? One of my most memorable Willow Project experiences was during fall quarter, it was the very first time I was doing intake by myself and I worried about making sure to do everything correctly. Coincidentally, the homeless man actually went to medical school, in seeing the worry on my face he kindly helped guide me through the whole process. Always patient, and never difficult when I asked to take his blood pressure a second time, he was a great help and it was an unexpected, but unforgettable learning experience for me at the Willow Project. What does being a part of the Willow Project mean to you? Willow Project is such a wonderful experience for me, I feel very fortunate in being given the opportunity to interact with such friendly clinic members who have the same interests as I do in helping others. Everyone, from clinic members to the homeless that visit our clinic, contributes something unique and different to the Willow Project. Give an interesting story or fact about yourself? When I was little in Vietnam, I had really high fevers and with such limited medicinal resources you would often find me simply “chillin” in a bucket of ice to bring my fever down. What fruit are you and why? I would describe myself as a peach, like the skin of a peach, I’m very soft-spoken. There are many types of peaches for the everyone’s different taste buds, I tend to get along with a diverse range of people. Some people see me as a peach because of my skin color and the light pink shade that occasionally shows up on my face during hot weather or when I blush from embarrassment. |
